Actalent Manufacturing Engineer in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for design and testing of new materials, new materials processing methods, and the implementation of innovative packaging solutions that meet the needs of the company. They will need to review data and analyze why they may be missing KPIs. While only designing 5% of the time, the rest of the time will be spent on responsibilities such as new product design, production support, assistance with assembly and factory testing, troubleshooting problems, answering questions for parts manufacturers (internal and external), and interfacing with vendors. The ultimate goal is the support of existing production models and the development of new packaging machines and materials. This role may require up to 5% of travel to OEM's locally.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Technology)

  • Experience working as an engineer in manufacturing (prefers at least a couple of years)

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical schematics

  • Knowledge and understanding of mechanical design

  • Proficient in Solidworks and statistical analysis software

  • Strong problem-solving skills (systematic approach ex. fishbone, 5Y, A3)

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Work Environment

A leading manufacturer and distributor of fresh foodservice and food merchandising products and fresh beverage cartons in North America and certain international markets. Typical hours are 40 hours but could include some overtime, not exceeding 50 hours. Start time is 7:30 but flexible. Occasional weekend work may be required. The role involves supporting technical equipment, analyzing equipment and processes on the floor, and interacting with several other departments. The engineer will primarily work independently and will report to the Engineering Manager with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.
