Position Specific Description

The Distributed Generation team offers to customers a full suite of Distributed Energy Resources, including solar PV, energy storage, Mainspring linear generators, and water reclamation. DG’s C&I Team covers the Commercial & Industrial (“C&I”) market and leverages our products and services to help those companies meet their renewable energy and sustainability goals.

The Manager C&I Business Development will support DG’s mission by originating and securing project opportunities in the C&I sector. In this highly customer-focused position, you will develop and manage substantive long-term relationships, and gain a deep understanding of customer needs and the market as a whole. As an account manager, you will be expected to source new relationships at conferences and other industry events, build deep relationships with customers, and act as their go-to trusted advisor on energy solutions. At the same time, you will oversee the internal activities required to ensure our success at the project level, and you will also collaborate with colleagues across the broader organization to manage customers strategically and provide them with maximum value.

The energy market is complex, fast-paced and constantly changing. To be successful in this role the following qualities are a must:

• Self-motivation and a strong work ethic

• Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail

• Experience with at least one (preferably more) of the following: DG solar or storage, natural gas, other onsite generation or water treatment

• Experience selling to C&Is is highly preferred; strong existing C&I relationships are a plus

• Willingness to travel

Job Overview

This position expands the footprint of distributed generation solar opportunities by developing and fostering relationships from internal and external channels. Employees in this role work to integrate the sales team in newly defined opportunities as well as identifying and fostering collaborative relationships across the enterprise to further opportunities in newly defined spaces.

  • Identifies solar opportunities via internal channels

  • Develops external solar opportunities

  • Creates and maintains Distributed generation marketing materials

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
