Facebook seeks a highly motivated, collaborative, leader on the Security Legal team. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment This is a unique opportunity to have regional and global impact while working on cutting edge products and novel legal issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment across a range of complex regulatory, privacy, safety, security and user data issues. The role requires sharp analytical skills, good judgment, strong work ethic and communication proficiency, a keen interest in learning and working with new technologies and laws across jurisdictions and time zones, and the ability to work independently as well as with large multi-stakeholder teams.
Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal and policy legal risks and resolving disputes
Support legal and public policy teams’ engagement with regulators and legislators on encryption, cross-border data access, and security policy
Monitor the legal and regulatory landscape and advise the business on the impacts of and compliance strategies for responding to new regulation in the law enforcement, privacy and safety space
Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering and others on security matters
Lead strategic outreach with industry peers, NGOs and key government officials on law enforcement and national security issues
J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
12+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
Experience managing and handling legal and regulatory issues
Experience advising technology or telecommunications companies as in-house or outside counsel on regulatory, safety and security matters, investigations, policy and/or criminal process
Experience with the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Stored Communications Act, General Data Protection Regulation, and other analogous U.S. and international laws
Experience advising technology companies on encryption, cross-border data flows, and data localization
Experience with Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty requests, Letters Rogatory, or other forms of international cooperation
Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional efforts
