Juneau School District Computer Systems Technician (JobID:9338) in Juneau, Alaska
Location: Information Technology Full-Time Position (1.0 FTE)
Position Summary: The Computer Systems Technicians role is to install, configure, administer, and optimize District software, servers and related components. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the application environment. The Computer Systems Technician will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center. The Computer Systems Technician is responsible for all enterprise application systems and servers in the District. The Computer Systems Technician will work closely and share duties with the Network and Systems Technicians.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 4 years of experience in managing an advanced server administration.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Functional knowledge of network topologies, network security, server setup and maintenance.
Ability to:
- Install, configure, administer, and optimize enterprise grade software, databases, servers, and related components.
- Manage web servers and related components.
- Provide technical leadership in application support.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Troubleshoot server issues.
- Maintain integrity of District applications, databases and servers and related components.
- Maintain effective working relationships with other people.
- Complete projects across various computing platforms.
- Manage multiple projects and meet stated customer-initiated deadlines.
- Demonstrate understanding of software development life cycle.
- Demonstrate strong skills in written and oral communication and critical thinking.
- Handle multiple projects/assignments concurrently and be very results oriented.
- Work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Be highly motivated.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, but closely related field may be acceptable.
Compensation: This is a full-time 12-month position working 37.5 hours/week with a starting salary of $37.83 per hour plus the District's excellent benefit package including health, dental, vision and life insurance, Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and paid sick and vacation days.
Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
