U.S. Army Sustainment Command Logistics Management Specialist in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington

About the Position: Serves as a multi-functional Logistics Management Specialist who provides guidance and staff level support to geographically dispersed Army Field Support Battalions (AFSBns), Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) under the cognizance of Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB) area of support (AOS). Responsibilities Analyze installation wide logistics readiness posture in terms of equipment status, supply support capabilities, and regulatory policy and guidance necessary to achieve the highest level of readiness. Ensure strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to unit members and integrated into the organization’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, work products, and services. Oversee surveillances and reviews Quality Assurance Evaluator (QAE) surveillance inspections for compliance with statement of work (SOW) requirements. Review logistics operational data and trends and recommend Courses Of Action (COA) to improve performance and reduce cost. Evaluate statistical data to ensure that costs of revised or enhanced readiness do not exceed the mission suspense’s and directives. Resolve work problems presented by customers and recommend or implement ways to improve production/quality of work. Deliver briefings on status of supply program issues and supply system problems. Coordinate with various agencies, supported units, and commercial contractors to obtain assistance in maintaining reliability, and availability for all installation tactical and combat systems and equipment. Demonstrate proper procedures to work on supply systems of records to prevent material from not being accountable or in excess. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating logistics performance to detect developing trends of assigned programs; recommending actions and/or initiatives to enhance logistics management efficiency; compiling information from logistics management systems for current and projected readiness activities; and preparing reports and briefs for logistics maintenance programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Organizational Awareness Planning and Evaluating Strategic Thinking Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Materiel Maintenance Management Career Field position. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. This position cannot be made permanent.
