About the Position: This position is with the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 404TH Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, located in JBLM, WA. Responsibilities Inspect vehicle loads, ensuring proper certification and security. Operate scales to weigh vehicles, calculate axle weights, and weigh pallets. Use Rough Terrain Cargo Handlers (RTCHs) and forklifts to move containers/equipment. Load vehicles on rail cars, ensure tie-downs, and adjust air load plans. Drive vehicles up to 10,000 lbs. and conduct convoy spot checks. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Fork Lift Operator without more than normal supervision. Perform common Forklift Operator duties such as inspecting vehicle loads for certification, operating forklifts to transport materials, and applying hazardous placards to containers. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Ability to Operate Safely (Non-motor Vehicles) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: More effort than described at grade 5 is required to turn the forklift truck since it is heavier and is usually driven over rough terrain. The rough terrain causes a greater vibration of the forklift trucks which requires greater physical endurance to withstand the strain. Working Conditions: Working conditions are the same as described at grade 5 except that the operator usually works outside in all kinds of weather and is exposed to dust and dirt. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position.
