Johnston Community School District Substitutute Custodian in Johnston, Iowa
JOB SUMMARY: To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Meet physical requirements:
Ability to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.
Ability to climb and work from ladder, scaffolding, or personnel lift
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Training and experience in mechanics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, electricity and painting desired
Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license required
Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. This includes:
Cleaning and maintaining all equipment as assigned.
Reporting major repairs or damage to school property promptly to the Building Head Custodian, Principal or Director of Buildings and Grounds.
Locking of doors and windows of assigned building(s).
Cleaning corridors during the day when conditions require it.
Assists in the moving of classroom furniture, materials, and equipment when need arises.
Duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to time.

Terms of Employment: Substitutes are called and used on an “as needed basis” with no guarantee of hours or days.Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision
