Salary: $94,250 - $141,370

The preferred candidate would: (1) Have a 4-year Electrical and/or a Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited institution; (2) Experience with investigating end-use power quality issues along with solution recommendations, conducting energy efficiency audits with cost savings calculations, perform billing analysis for end-use customer high bill concerns, conducting in-field electric revenue meter testing, performing thermography (infrared) inspections on electrical distribution systems for industrial and commercial customers; (3) Conduct power factor correction evaluations; (4) Utilizing ultrasonic equipment to perform compressed air leak detection to include identification of air leaks and cost savings calculations; (5) Performance evaluations of existing HVAC and chiller systems to include sizing recommendations; (6) Able to perform Arc Flash Hazard analysis for industrial customers. The preferred candidate also has experience in solar photovoltaic system commissioning. Pertaining to the education requirements listed below accredited refers to ABET accreditation.

Job Summary:

Serves as an engineer with responsibility for the sales, promotion, and delivery of technical services and engineering consulting on a wide range of program areas involving the application and marketing of TVA services and products that promote the efficient utilization of electrical energy and electric based technologies. Areas include power quality, HVAC, lighting, cooking, environmental, account representation, electro technologies as apply to agricultural, industrial, commercial, and residential applications.

Generates revenue for TVA by delivering routine technical and engineering consulting services to TVA distributors and their customers through the Comprehensive Services program and to other TVA organizations.

Develops and delivers products and services to generate market share and promote the value and efficient use of electricity and electro-based technologies. Evaluate customer needs, generates a cost estimate and performs and/or directs the service. Ensures that all work meets the requirements of national, state and local codes.

Works with TVA staff and power distributor personnel to implement activities to find potential energy services and marketing projects.

Provides advice and assist power distributors and their customers on rates, rate structures, and billing.

Provides technical advice on project definition, develops project proposals, presents proposals to customers and follows project to closure.

Acts as a liaison between TVA, power distributors, and their commercial and industrial customers.

Performs electrical/mechanical engineering plus programmatic functions relating to the commercial and industry applications of electrical power.

Supervision Received: Under the general supervision of the Customer Service Manager. Works independently on assignments, independently responsible for determining daily work schedule.

Skills and Proficiencies (May be job or organization specific): Consulting skills (technical understanding of the customer’s needs, matching customer needs with TVA’s offerings, convincing customer to utilize the product or service; oral and written communications, presentation skills, teamwork, persuasion, problem solving, knowledge of distributor and customer systems and processes. Mediation skills for conflict resolution.

Minimum Qualifications (Consistent with Classification Standard):

Education and Experience/Certificates, Licenses, and Registration Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Agriculture, Environmental Engineering or comparable engineering discipline (as job requirements dictate) from an accredited university. A Master’s degree is desirable. Licensed professional engineer license desirable.

Must have demonstrated proficiency in Power Utilization Engineering as evidenced by completion of Engineering Graduate Progression Plan or equivalent post engineering graduate education and experience.
