Overview
The Nursing Informatics Specialist is a registered nurse with expertise in both clinical practices and informatics, responsible for enhancing patient care through the integration of technology. Leveraging their knowledge of clinical sciences, computer science, and information science, they lead assessments, planning, training, implementation, and optimization of clinical informatics projects aimed at improving health outcomes for the UHS patient population. The specialist serves as a key liaison between nursing and Information Services, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the effective implementation of EHR changes and system upgrades. This role actively engages with nursing leadership to align technology integration with patient care needs.
Qualifications
Education/ExperienceMinimum Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or relevant clinical field
Five (5) years of clinical experience in the inpatient or ambulatory care setting
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in nursing - Quality and Patient Safety or Nursing Informatics preferred
License/CertificationMinimum Required:
- Unencumbered active New York State Registered Nurse license
GePreferred:
- National certification in clinical informatics
