Neurosurgery Physician Assistant / Overview We are actively recruiting a Physician Assistant (PA) for the Department of Neurosurgery at UHS Binghamton General Hospital to join a team of 5 APPs. The Hospital is a Level II trauma center with 450 beds. The practice is a high functioning practice performing 2,500+ cases/year with excellent hospital support and wide referral network spanning a 120 mile radius.
Shift is 6pm-6am in either a 7 nights on/7 nights off or 3 shifts on 1 week and 4 shifts the second week.
Seeking both experienced or new, motivated graduates.
This position provides health care services to patients under the direction and responsibility of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers and orders diagnostic test and interprets the test results for deviations from normal. Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and health maintenance. Preference for previous Neurosurgery or Spine Surgery experience. Preferred credentials are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support). Will provide courses upon employment.
Our Neurosurgeons provide comprehensive neurosurgery, including complex adult spine and cranial neurosurgery. Actively supported by neuro-endovascular, pain management/non-operative spine, and neuro-radiology services.
Clinical highlights include dedicated Neuro OR team (24/7) with block time 5 days/week, Stealth Station Navigation, Intraoperative Monitoring team, 3T MRI with in-house Neuro Radiology, Neuro Critical Care service, and bi-plane angiography lab.
