WorkSource Oregon Forestry Technician - Initial Attack Dispatcher in JOHN DAY, Oregon

Requirements: * U.S. Citizen or National or be lawfully permitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed * Males born after 12/31/59 to be registered with Selective Service * Combination of education, general and specialized experience to meet GS-4 to GS-7 level ****Full details for qualifications, education and experience required available online Duties: * Operates and/or directs the operation of various dispatch telecommunication systems. * Performs wildfire suppression support as directed within training and physical and other duties as assigned. * Anticipates fire suppression needs and determines resource allocation, ie. the number of persons and composition of equipment to dispatch to wildland fires, or for situations in which the fire danger is high. * Reviews internal operating procedures and systems, makes recommendations for improvement, and updates/develops operating plans and mobilization guides. * Performs, and directs others, in inputting data into a number of fire-related computer applications (e.g., incident qualification records, fire reporting systems, and automated dispatch systems) and makes assessment of outputs. * Plans and provides critical logistical support information to the supervisor for successful implementation of fire management program activities. Develops and implements fire program management project work plans. * Provides information and consults with cooperators and other interested entities. Coordinates and may assist with fire training and orientation. Provides assistance on problems encountered by lower-level dispatch personnel.
