RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Duties: Vice President with Goldman Sachs Services LLC in Jersey City, NJ. Serve as senior member of Securities Engineering Settlement team, working with senior Engineering leaders to define & implement the functional & technical strategy for the Securities Settlement function. Provide local & remote oversight of employees & consultants to deliver projects, small enhancements, and respond to support issues. Provide mentoring & career guidance for teams in the US and globally through regular catch-ups and via the formal GS career management process. Design & oversee implementation of enhancements to the firms’ Securities Settlement platforms. Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for software written with Java, SQL, RESTful web services, RMI, JMS messaging and web UIs. Lead design & architecture discussions with internal and external stakeholders, regularly interfacing with internal clients/end users and other development teams. Participate in strategy setting with local/global members of management team. Analyze and estimate new projects & enhancement requests. Oversee or directly manage up to 20 projects simultaneously end-to-end, across the Securities Settlement space. Translate business and technical requirements into well-engineered business applications based on object oriented design and needs of stakeholders .
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field. Minimum five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role. Prior experience must include five (5) years: Developing software applications utilizing UNIX, Java, and SQL; using common source control tools such as Subversion and Git; software testing, including: unit tests, scenario tests, replay-style regression tests; reviewing code changes submitted by developers and providing feedback as necessary; performance tuning of high volume transaction processing applications, including relational database query performance; providing production support operating in a fast-paced environment and solving complex time-critical problems within intra-day deadlines; developing & supporting online trade processing applications in a finance context; and working with stakeholders to gather & refine business requirements, into requirements ready for technical implementation. Prior experience must include three (3) years: Driving technical & functional architecture decisions; end-to-end project management experience, including taking ownership & driving deliverables beyond an internal team in pursuit of a common goal; local & remote management & oversight of at least 10 developers (including in the capacity as formal career manager & project manager), geographically dispersed, which includes review of design and code changes made by the developers and tracking project status in order to be able to gauge project health and report to stakeholders; and communicating with senior internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations by defining key project milestones.
