Supervisory Accountant

Jeffersonville, Indiana

The Supervisory Accountant will accurately maintain a general ledger and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and ensure the warranty division accounting practice is in line with overall AIG accounting practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.

• Assist in the preparation of Stand-alone financial statements for regulatory needs.

• Prepare and approve journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and conduct monthly, quarterly and annual close processes.

• Monitor and direct an offshore team that supports financial operations process for the Warranty division including Accounts Payable, Customer Refunds and Claims Check issuance.

• Support and contribute to management and execution of projects and workstreams associated with significant transactions, system implementations/migrations and ad hoc activities, including those which are business-driven

• Meet operational and reporting deadlines timely.

• Respond to information requests, review financial statements, and assist with internal and external audits.

• Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.

• Contribute to the migration of operational processes and procedures onto SAP accounting systems and assist in testing of applications being implemented.

• Collaboration with Warranty finance team and account management teams

• Work with Warranty Controller and AIG Corporate Controller’s group to ensure compliance with GAAP and consistency of the warranty business accounting practice across global AIG.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.

  • 5+ years of senior level accounting experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to manage offshore staff.

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.

  • Strong financial analysis skills.

  • Ability to work with no or little supervision.

  • Good problem-solving and time management skills.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
