SUMMARY OF POSITION

Performs testing activities at the Chemical Laboratory in support to formulation and release of Jayuya Products including initials, in-process and final samples testing. Perform testing of raw materials and water samples. Provide support to Chemical Laboratory personnel in any associated activity. Follow current procedures and ensure compliance with corporate internal policies and external regulations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages laboratory equipment include but not limited to pH, Optical Rotation, Conductivity, Titrations, Karl Fisher, Melting Point, Color, LOD, ROI, IR, UV, IR, Flame Ionization, Visual Inspections, Spectramax, Caliper, as assigned by area management, ensuring current procedures are followed.

  • Assists Laboratory Personnel in setting equipment of higher complexity, such as HPLC, UPLC, Atomic Absorption, Dionex and GC, and / or performing related testing as requested by area management.

  • Assist in the disposal of laboratory wastes according to Company policies and procedures.

  • Performs routine testing of raw materials, initials, in-process and finished product samples versus current specification and procedures.

  • Pick-ups, delivers and/ or receives process samples to the chemical laboratory ensuring they are documented in the corresponding log book as per current procedures. Includes logging samples as well.

  • Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of the laboratory temperature and humidity charting system and replace the corresponding chart paper as required by current procedure.

  • Performs sampling and testing activities related to Jayuya Plant and Laboratory Water Systems during routine or when required, for example after maintenance, interventions or modifications, (Extraordinary Maintenance Requests, EMR). Perform heavy metal conductivity and TOC analysis to water samples, according to current procedures.

  • Prepares and keep up date laboratory solutions reagents expiration dates and assist laboratory chemists in preparing mobile phase for HPLC.

  • Order and carry-out inventory of laboratory reagents, standards, equipment and glassware notifying timely to area supervisor when any material needs replenishment. Make sure that any expired material is retrieved and discard according to current procedures.

  • Keeps the laboratory work area or assigned systems organized and in clean conditions.

  • Follows cGMP's and cGDP's when performing work and notify area management in the event of any none expected or out of limit results is obtained when testing laboratory samples. Assist Laboratory Supervisor in the investigation process of non-conformances test results.

  • Performs routine audit to assigned laboratory systems notifying area management of any discrepancy found and ensuring the observation is correct. For example, audit desiccators, temperature charts, laboratory refrigerator, freezer, etc.

  • Complies with work assigned by the immediate supervisor within the established deadline, this may include working overtime at any shift or during Holidays, when required (for example during shutdowns or regulatory audits). Assistance during high workload periods is a must.

  • Teamwork oriented, manages diversity and handles multiple tasks at the same time.

  • Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, 6S committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory or plant safety audits.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Chemistry or Chemical Technology; or five years related experience and/or training.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisors, internal or external audits and other employees of the organization.

  • Must read and understand basic English as a second language. Ability to communicate, read, write and understand English/Spanish languages.

  • Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Exams cGMP's Training, and other certificates or licenses that the immediate supervisor refers.

Pay Details: $18.00 per hour
