Job Title: Tool and Die Maker

Job Description

Join our dynamic production team as a Tool and Die Maker! In this role, you will work to engineering math models, blueprints, sketches, existing parts, and other data to produce new tooling, gauges, fixtures, parts, machine components, and assemblies to specifications for production operations. You will evaluate work plans to maximize accuracy and efficiency while minimizing setup time and overall labor. Additionally, you will provide cost and time estimates to engineers and tool control. Your role is crucial in setting up and operating all tool room machines, including both manual and CNC-controlled equipment. You will perform heat treating operations per engineering specifications and engage in bench work involving stone and polish, fitting, and other finishing operations. Collaboration with Engineering and Tool Control to manage drawing changes and updates is essential. You will also participate in Tooling Damage Reviews with Tooling Engineers, Die Setters, and Maintenance, as well as improvement initiatives involving tooling, gauges, and related equipment.

Hard Skills

  • 5 years of experience as a tool and die maker

  • Proficiency in operating manual and CNC-controlled tool room machines

  • Experience in heat treating operations

  • Ability to interpret engineering math models, blueprints, and sketches

Soft Skills

  • Strong collaboration skills

  • Efficiency in evaluating work plans

Job Type

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Work Environment

The position is available in three shifts: 1st (6am-2pm), 2nd (2pm-10pm), and 3rd (10pm-6am) from Sunday to Thursday, with every other Saturday required. The facility is a very large, 400,000 sq.ft space housing approximately 700 employees. It is a loud and dirty work environment. Appropriate attire includes steel-toe footwear, jeans, and t-shirts without rips or holes.
