Responsibilities:
Verify necessary patient information and records in both medical and computerized scheduling systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule appointments efficiently, relaying vital messages to staff and providers as needed.
Greet and register patients warmly, providing prompt assistance and clear instructions regarding their visit.
Inform the appropriate department or personnel of patient arrivals, ensuring proper check-in and check-out processes are followed.
Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area, including the beverage station and reading materials, to enhance patient comfort.
Prepare patient charts ahead of upcoming appointments, ensuring all documentation is ready and accessible.
Answer incoming calls, screen calls, take messages, and provide relevant information regarding appointments and testing procedures.
Maintain and update physician schedules diligently, confirming appointments to optimize patient flow and minimize scheduling conflicts.
Complete necessary paperwork, including encounter forms and referrals, while utilizing the computer system for billing and information generation.
Respond to patient inquiries regarding appointments and testing, offering clear and helpful guidance.
Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures, ensuring strict confidentiality of medical records and data.
Utilize automated financial management system modules for scheduling, information verification, charge entry, and co-payment collection, ensuring accurate reconciliation.
Required:
High school diploma or GED
1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
Preferred:
Knowledge of medical terminology
Word processing and computer experience
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
