UPMC Director, Practice Management - Great Lakes Physicians Practice in Jamestown, New York
Purpose:
Manage all operational aspects of the practice sites to ensure quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Promotion of excellent patient satisfaction to the patients and office staff.
Assist in physician relations as needed.
Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.
Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others.
Work as a team with administration, physicians and managers to determine the effectiveness of current procedures and plans, and develops and implements new systems for efficient and improved utilization of operations.
Liaison for construction, renovation projects and building utilization. Assess existing needs and plan for new programs to meet the needs of the community.
Ensure that all revenue cycle benchmarks are met.
Maintain professional, pleasant and effective communications both internally and externally.
Coordinate new practice installations as well as divestitures.
Develop strategic plan for practices.
Coordinate and assist in the recruitment of staff and new practices which may include due diligence, practice valuations, contract negotiations, and staffing.
Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
Maintain a current and in-depth knowledge of resource based relative value scale and its impact in the operations of the practice.
Analyze financial data for variances. Review with physicians and managers to develop methods for increasing revenue and reducing expenses.
Serve as liaison and conduit to various departments and resources.
Participate in development and execution of marketing strategies for the practices.
Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information with no infractions.
Promote the hospital's image and maintain a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a health care center.
Supervise and oversee the practice budgets.
Ensure appropriate and high quality staffing of the practice through strategic placement of office coordinators, office managers, or practice managers.
Monitor the practice's operating statistics and patterns to isolate trends and changes, thus ensure that the practice is maintaining its place and competitive edge, as well as identify new market areas.
Participate in physician contract negotiations.
Required
B.S. degree in business, health care administration, or a related area
5 years experience in management of a large physician practice with multiple offices
Good oral and written skills, ability to communicate with hospital contacts both on the telephone and directly and effectively communicate with all age groups, populations, and individuals within the hospital
Familiar with the hospital computer system
A medium percentage of standing with a low percentage of walking and sitting
Lifting is light with some frequency of lifting, bending and reaching overhead. No pushing/pulling, kneeling or climbing ladders
Normal work environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature changes
May be exposed to communicable diseases
Ability to wear protective clothing and/or equipment as determined by hospital policy.
