Cleaning Technologies Group Controls Engineer in Jamestown, New York
Job Title: Controls Engineer Department: Engineering Reports To: Division President Exemption Classification: Salary Exempt Pay Range: $75,000k-$85,000k/year
Summary:
Design electrical control systems for custom & standard products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review Engineering job file and design products to meet applicable specs.
• Interact and communicate with customers and other engineering staff members as project dictates.
• CAD drawing package generation including customer approval, wiring schematics & panel layout.
• Generate bill of material, estimate cost of purchased items, and requisition all necessary material and components.
• Design PLC and HMI logic using products from many different manufacturers.
• Research and use new software and hardware packages.
• Support all other departments on an as need basis regarding electrical components of the machine.
• Assist engineers, electricians and customer with debugging and machine runoffs.
• Other functions as directed.
• Support Project in the field, as needed, during start-up and through warranty period.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May assist in the training of new employees.
Education and/or Experience:
College degree in electrical engineering and/or 3-5 years of technical experience. Must have product component level knowledge and AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electric experience. Position requires multiple projects be handled at one time. Strong understanding of PLC programming, automation, configuring and designing HMI / OIT systems, and review / develop complex electrical schematics and drawings.
Language Skills:
Communicate verbally and/or in writing with employees, other departments, supervisors and customers relating to work progress, problems and/or completion. Must be able to present information to groups of employees, customers, vendors etc.… with poise and confidence.
Mathematical Skills:
College level mathematics.
Reasoning Ability:
Perform complex root-cause problem solving analysis and implement data driven solutions.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Maintain local, regional and/or national memberships in appropriate professional organizations/associations.
Physical Demands:
Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time. Must be able adjust visual focus. Travel may be required.
Work Environment:
Work in controlled environment of office, along with traditional shop atmosphere. Can be exposed to loud noises and various fumes or smells based on job. Work around high voltage machinery.
Travel:
Must be able to periodically travel to customer’s jobsite for startups, machine commissioning and warranty work as dictated by project. All projects do not require travel, most stays are from 1 to 2 days, some could be more.
