Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Practice Chairs, Physics Division Chair and the Department Chair, Operations Administrator or Operations Manager, manages the dosimetry work unit which includes: dosimetry policy management, external beam treatment planning and procedures, projects, and ongoing educational commitments of the area. Facilitates project management while leading teams including analysis, problem solving and team collaboration. Supervises the Dosimetry Assistant Supervisors/Leads, Medical Dosimetry Assistant Supervisors/Leads, Dosimetrists, Dosimetrist Trainees, and ancillary personnel detailed to assist in dosimetry planning or patient scanning to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care in a professional and efficient manner. Ensures that teamwork ideals and issues of mutual respect are understood and pursued. Acts as the primary interface between dosimetry and physics. Assists the Practice Chairs with contingency planning for current and future dosimetry development. Develops schedules for and participates in the routine completion of, consulting and scan resourcing. When needed, performs the duties of a dosimetrist per the dosimetrist job description. Also responsible for didactic and clinical teaching responsibilities.

Qualifications

Current registration by the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board (MDCB) as a board Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) AND a minimum of three (3) years of Dosimetry experience.

*Clinical medical dosimetry experience is defined as experience in a medical setting creating clinically deliverable treatment plans for radiation oncology patients under the direction of a physicist or CMD. This does not include corporate/vendor experience. The clinical experience must NOT be concurrent with the dosimetry schooling. Clinical Medical Dosimetry Experience is full-time equivalent. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of a Radiation Oncology facility. Previous management experience in interacting and leading a large diverse group. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex procedures, and a thorough knowledge of radiation oncology. Requires organizational skills and ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously with efficiency. Requires the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate decision-making and judgment capabilities and skills. Must have broad knowledge of computer systems along with spreadsheets, databases, presentations, etc.Current Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) Certification
