Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager

Position Profile
The Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager will be responsible for management of engineering/technical support/administrative staff, business and proposal development activities, project management, and oversight of engineering design of civil/environmental projects for public and private entities as part of our infrastructure practice, as well as, in support to other Hanson markets.
An emphasis in municipal engineering and site civil design is preferred. Engineering related experience will include site development planning/engineering for educational facilities, recreational parks, commercial, and industrial projects. Assignments to include client coordination, management of design and delivery of profitable projects while staying actively involved in design oversight. Experience with development of project scope and budget, with a keen eye to understanding of what it entails to produce quality level engineering design and plans is also an integral part of this position. A solid grasp of various municipal Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) and experience in the Federal market would be considered a plus.
A Day in Life of a Senior Site Civil Engineer/Project Manager at Hanson
The ideal candidate will have experience with writing proposals, scope of work and development of budgets for projected work. Duties include the management of subordinate design staff on multiple project teams and the overall oversite of in-house projects. This role will function equally effective in both client-facing and internal-facing circumstances.
Here is a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
This position requires management of the full project life cycle to meet client and Hanson’s expectations regarding scope, budget/financial performance, schedule, quality, communications, risk management and health and safety of project staff.
Prepare/review scope and fee and contractual agreements for complex, multi-discipline professional services.
Day-to-day task oversight and assignment of civil sitework, to include project needs assessment and justification, oversight of junior staff in the development of engineering plans, supporting calculations, engineering reports and technical documentation.
Provide leadership to subordinate design staff, including mentoring, training, and production assistance.
Assist and lead engineering/technical team members during regulatory permitting with having a familiarity with local and state site civil design practices in Florida.
Provide leadership, oversight, and coordination during construction phase services.
Be committed to quality control procedures.
Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
Provide guidance on workload prioritization and Interface with leadership to assess performance.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of staff.
Lead, coach, and develop budget processing, revenue recognition and account receivable management.
Work closely with Project Administrators to analyze job cost reports with variances against budgets.
Work directly or indirectly with clients and project/market principals.
Coordinate with marketing staff to develop the overall proposal strategy to pursue opportunities while meeting RFQ/RFP requirements and Hanson objectives.
Perform presentations to existing and future clients, councils, boards, commissions, and governing bodies.
Prepare responses to requests for proposals, attend project pursuit interviews and other related marketing activities for business development.
What We are Looking For

Technical Skills:
Experience with complex engineering design.
Experience with marketing municipalities, FDOT, water management districts, regulatory agencies, and utility/agencies owners.
Experience interacting with other peer disciplines including but not limited to roadways, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural and structural.
Soft Skills:
Possesses strong organizational skills with a sense of self-initiative and urgency to meet project deadlines.
A history of effective teambuilding and leadership of project teams over a broad project range.
Must be able to build effective relationships with internal and external client bases.
Effective written and oral communication skills, including being able to communicate complex technical concepts both visually and in text, to other engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
Must be able to lead and motivate team members to provide exceptional service.
Ability and willingness to assist early-career staff in setting and achieving annual goals.
Must be able to collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
Education/Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Advanced degree considered a plus.
Minimum of 15 years of relevant design and project management experience in civil design of land development, roadway design and municipal projects.
At minimum, possess an active Professional Engineers license in Florida, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months.
