Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the leadership of the Director, the Nurse Manager Behavioral Health is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing and directing functions to ensure the effective operation of the unit. This position also functions in cooperation with the leadership team in developing plans, policies and procedures to efficiently meet the objective of providing quality care at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital. The Manager also assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing and managing the department and staff to assure quality service on a twenty-four (24) hour basis, while also working collaboratively with the Director to ensure that all budgetary, Process Improvement, Core Measure and Patient Satisfaction initiatives are achieved. The Manager is also responsible for meeting Joint Commission standards, complying with all state and federal regulations, complying with corporate policy and procedures, managing supplies and equipment, promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external customer satisfaction, and for appropriate resource management.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Master's Degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing or its equivalent from an accredited school of nursing required (5+ years of registered psychiatric nursing experience may be substituted for Master's Degree)

  • Current Florida RN license (or current Compact State RN license) required

  • Current American Heart Association BLS required

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification required within 30 days of hire

  • 2+ years of psychiatric nursing experience as a RN in specialty area of psychiatry (1 of which was in a supervisory capacity) required
