The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Donor Stewardship Specialist – Donor Advised Funds contributes to the overall success of WWP and the Resource Development team. This role is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with Donor Advised Fund (DAF) donors, ensuring they are effectively stewarded, and their contributions are tracked within WWP databases. The Donor Stewardship Specialist regularly reviews and analyzes reports, fostering strong connections with both DAF donors and the institutional charitable organizations that serve them (Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard, community foundations, etc.). Additionally, the role involves promoting the benefits of giving through a DAF to other potential donors. A strategic yet hands-on approach is essential to ensure that all donors and institutional charitable partners feel valued and well-informed about the impact of their contributions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the Donor Stewardship Associate Director to develop and implement personalized stewardship plans to engage, retain and increase DAF donors.

  • Along with the Director and Associate Director, share common KPIs related to increasing the number of DAF donors and the amount of funds raised through DAFs annually.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DAF donors, providing exceptional customer service and timely responses to inquiries.

  • Develop new innovative ways to steward DAF donors through collaborative efforts across WWP Departments and outside vendors, Innovairre and THD, to ensure timely and accurate acknowledgement of gifts and gather impactful stories and data that can be shared with donors.

  • Monitor and manage a portfolio of WWP DAF Donors and 300+ institutional charitable organizations by building and maintaining a strong relationship and by regularly communicating with them through various channels (mail, phone calls, emails, meetings, and events).

  • Identify and research potential DAF donors and institutional charitable organizations.

  • Track engagement to ensure consistent and meaningful interactions in WWP databases, DMI and Salesforce.

  • Collaborate with the Donor Stewardship Associate Director to implement a donor recognition program to show appreciation and acknowledge contributions, ensuring donors feel valued and appreciated as well as customize recognition efforts based on the donor’s level of contribution and engagement.

  • Create and maintain the Premium Gift Gratitude Guide as well as fulfill and track gratitude requests.

  • Support stewardship visits and special events, in person and virtually. Support includes planning and executing donor related events (in-person and virtual) such as appreciation gatherings, fundraising events, and informational sessions to strengthen donor relationships, as well as coordinate follow-ups post events to gather feedback and express gratitude.

  • Effectively articulate WWP’s history, mission, vision, and programs to potential funding sources effectively, both verbally and in writing.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) software, preferably Salesforce.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize, delegate, and ensure that deadlines are met.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Wounded Warrior Project and its mission, values, programs, and services, and the impact of these programs and services on wounded warriors and their families.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise good judgment when working with sensitive matters.

  • High energy level. Self- starter: willing to take initiative, Outgoing and enjoys interacting with various people.

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

  • Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct.

    EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in donor stewardship.

  • Two years of experience with Salesforce NPSP, or similar CRM.

  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.

Preferences

  • Three years of experience working in a non-profit or philanthropic organization.

    EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business communications, marketing, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
