The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is actively seeking a Dietitian Coordinator.

This is professional work in developing and implementing nutrition and dietetic services. The work requires a basic understanding and application of the theories, principles, and practices of nutrition and dietetics usually gained through degree granting schools, or an equivalent level of practical knowledge gained through experience. Contacts require skills in understanding, influencing and communicating with others and are important in providing services to program participants. The work is standardized in that tasks are covered by substantially diversified procedures and specialized standards, and because of the changing priorities, or different situations, incumbents have the latitude to consider which of the many procedures or standards should be followed and in what sequence. The work is performed in an office environment. The physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another, sitting, or standing at a workstation for extended periods of time, and may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Operates a vehicle and standard office equipment such as personal computers using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other related software, peripheral and electronic devices, copiers and calculators. The work is performed under limited supervision where the work assignments are subject to practices and procedures covered by precedents and well-defined policies and the work is reviewed, usually after the fact, in terms of quality, volume, timeliness and adherence to methods, standards and policies.
Examples of Work
Plans, organizes and conducts a nutrition program to meet the nutritional health needs of the group served by the program.
Coordinates program services with other nutrition and health service organizations and provides information and referral to program participants.
Conducts training programs for nutrition program staff and volunteers.
Prepares nutrition education newsletters and pamphlets for program participants.
Provides nutrition counseling and develops individual nutrition plans for program participants.
Forms partnerships with community organizations as well as food vendors/restaurants.
Reviews proposed menus to determine whether meals meet federal and state guidelines and revises as necessary.
Maintains required records on services and participants for preparation of reports.
Monitors meal sites and catering service for conformance with state and federal guidelines and resolves problems with delivery or serving of meals.
Makes presentations at meal sites on food and nutrition topics.
Analyzes present and projected nutrition service needs and provides input on evaluation of the effectiveness of the nutrition program.
Interacts with program participants regularly to receive feedback and suggestions for program improvement.
Maintains accurate and up to date nutrition-related records .
Operates motor vehicles.
Operates standard office equipment such as a personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, and related applications.
Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville’s competencies.
Performs related work as required.

Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in human nutrition, food and nutrition, dietetics or food management and two years of experience in nutrition, dietetics, food science or food service administration is required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Must possess and maintain license by the Florida Department of Health as a dietitian/nutritionist and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a dietitian.
CPR and First Aid Certification is required within six months of appointment and must be maintained.
A valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Probationary period for this class is six (6) months.
Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services or Elder Affairs.
This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing programs as set forth in the City of Jacksonville’s Drug Free Workplace Policy (Directive 0401).
