ATP Flight School Simulator Apprentice in Jacksonville Beach, Florida

The role

The Simulator Apprentice is a developing member learning under the guidance of the team that is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing PC-based flight simulators, including associated vendor-specific hardware, and providing technical support for PCs and network equipment installed across over 80 locations.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a supported learning environment to develop the simulator and technical skills and knowledge required for a Simulator Technician.

  • Functions as a point of contact between ATP's staff, flight instructors and students, handling incoming calls and email queries regarding PC repairs and maintenance, as well as technical support.

  • Develop the skills necessary to perform daily operational inspections on simulators and deploy preventative and reactive repairs or maintenance as needed.

  • Provides support for installation and repair of flight simulation devices while receiving on the job training.

  • Reads technical manuals, instructions, and operational information to properly engage in the repair of equipment and/or training, incorporating new technologies as needed.

  • Travels to Training Centers to coordinate installation, repair and relocation of computer devices, flight simulation devices and associated hardware and software.

  • Follows up on and makes calls or sends emails to ensure all ATP staff, instructors, and students have adequate and functional Simulator, PC and network resources.

  • Supports all ATP staff by building and maintaining workstation PCs.

  • Installs and maintains printers and other PC peripherals.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree with emphasis or classwork in PC, and/or simulator technologies or equivalent relevant work experience in the technical support or aviation industry required.

  • Two (2) years related experience in computer technology or technical support roles. Prefer aviation industry simulator operations or aviation technical operations experience.

  • Experience with performing basic mechanical maintenance utilizing hand tools on equipment. Aviation maintenance experience preferred. Soldering experience is a plus.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Operating System software required. Microsoft Office experience preferred. Network experience is a plus.

  • 10% to 20% travel required.
