West Tennessee Healthcare Team Builder Advanced EMT in Jackson, Tennessee
Team Builder requirements include but not limited to: Thirty-six (36) hours per two (2) week pay period minimum on weekend night shifts in Madison County.
Responsible for basic emergency medical care in the transportation and treatment of sick and injured patients. Under the general supervision of the Director and the direct supervision of the Shift Manager, the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for emergency care of patients transported on assigned shifts, with flexible schedules. Completion of a certification course of study to allow the applicant to sit for the AEMT certification exam for the State of Tennessee required. Current Class D with F Endorsement Tennessee Driver’s License. Current Basic Life Support card from the American Heart Association or equivalent. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call back as required by the Director or designated person. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. The employee is subject to random drug screening.
Determine the extent of illness or injury by performing patient assessment, recognize and interpret vital signs and other symptoms, report findings to an authorized Emergency Department/Trauma Center Registered Nurse and/or physician, and request orders for the appropriate treatment protocol.
Administer basic trauma and cardiac life support procedures to the sick and injured at the scene and en route to a hospital.
Assists in the extrication of victims from damaged motor vehicles and hostile environments.
Record and enter patient data and other information on appropriate forms and logs.
Perform duties as assigned in the daily operation of quarters, involving patients, vehicles, department, and equipment, following policies, procedures, and operating instructions.
Assist with patient care duties in the Emergency Room/Trauma Center as requested or required for further training.
Participate in the clinical education of EMS students as needed.
Completion of a certification course of study to allow the applicant to sit for the AEMT certification exam for the State of Tennessee.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:
Current State Certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.
Current Class D with F Endorsement Tennessee Driver’s License.
Current Basic Life Support card from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
Current PEARS certification or completion of a PEARS course within the first six months of employment.
Knowledge of local hospitals and Medical Center EMS policies, procedures, standing orders, protocols, area locale, radio communication procedures, emergency and medical agencies, pharmacology, solutions and concentrations as acquired through a minimum of 4-6 week orientation program and at the discretion of the Director. The operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles as acquired through an orientation program.
