Baptist Memorial Supervisor-Revenue Cycle in Jackson, Mississippi
Summary
The Billing Supervisor will be a key resource in maintaining revenue, and establishing, implementing and controlling the billing system and supervising staff as part Revenue Cycle Management for the Central Business Office. Ability to demonstrate excellence and people leadership; able to recognize, harness and develop individual talents from within, fostering a culture of ownership, trust, respect, enthusiasm and pride. This individual must be a self - starter and possess the skills and resources to determine direction of and the means in which to lead the area.
Responsibilities
• Experience with revenue cycle and reimbursement in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to work independently and as part of the management team
• Must meet all deadlines for reporting, job evaluations, and other projects
• Knowledge of insurance billing guidelines including all government programs
• Responsible for the daily billing of claims to insurance carriers, and patients based on contract requirements and payer guidelines to ensure compliance
• Develop monthly productivity goals for all staff while ensuring staff quality of service is considered.
• Keep up to date on all billing and documentation changes by insurance carriers
• Responsible for ensuring timely and effective billing of claims
• Evaluate claim edits and monitor to ensure claims are "scrubbed" before being submitted
• Work with Manager on issues as it affects claim payments, denials, and short pays
• Assist with claim processing problems and troubleshoot system issues and errors as they occur and work with management on clean billing process
• As specialties are added to the business, assure that the billing department integrates these seamlessly into the billing process.
• Perform yearly evaluations of billing staff
• Job duties include but not limited to staffing, training and general HR functions along with other duties as assigned by Manager and Director.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience
• Advanced skills in organization and priority setting
• Knowledge of techniques, workflows, and processes within Hospital and Professional Billing.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding
• Working knowledge of national standards (i.e., JCAHO, State Health Regulations, OSHA, EPA, Safety Codes, Hazardous Materials and Emergency Preparedness and Licensing Regulations)
• Understanding of revenue cycle metrics
• Some knowledge of medical terminology and coding
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Education High school diploma or GED
Computer Knowledge
Microsoft Word/Excel
