This is a job for a Area Safety Coordinator position with a company located in the Jackson, MS area.
Position Overview: The Safety Specialist in tandem with local, divisional, and corporate safety teams will be responsible for supporting and promoting our safety culture. Aligned with our Life Saving Rules and safety focus areas this role will support the organizational goal of ZERO incidents/accidents while leading by example at Pennsy Supply, Inc. Below are the primary responsibilities of this role; other duties to be assigned.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions): Adhere to all state and federal regulations, if applicable as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine, Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) and any other regulatory agency. Ability to identify and correct potential hazards to ensure that sites can consistently maintain regulatory compliance; monitor, interpret and analyze safety data to support business needs through inspection of facilities, machinery, and safety equipment. Assist with the development, coordination and present required training programs including New Hire Safety Orientation, MSHA New Miner Training, Smith Driving, 30 CFR Part 48 (a) (b), Part 46 and OSHA mandated programs, and other training as required. Assist the Safety Manager with the implementation of CRH and Pennsy Supply safety initiatives and compliance programs. Including LSR Audits and MSHA Inspections. Liaison with site safety teams/operations to support the management of regulations, projects, program awareness and company updates. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. Including risk-assessment, proactive identification of potential loss sources and workplace assessments. Assist in the creation and participation conducting job hazard analyses and risk assessments with the goal of proactively identifying potential business and employee risks. Promoting and facilitating safety innovations. Support the team on our Journey to Zero, by influencing our teams and providing coaching on safe work actions and team conversations. Assist in the advancement and facilitation of our engagement and ownership of EHS throughout the entire organization. The ability to speak effectively in front of any size group. Maintains professional demeanor in dealing with critical/confidential information; restricts discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) with an Industrial Hygiene or environmental, health and safety major from a four-year college or university or a combination of education and experience preferred. Practical work experience between 2-5 years is required. Safety field and facilitation experience preferred. Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements: OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926 and MSHA regulation knowledge preferred. Ability influence, train, and coach others.
General Requirements: Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations with some overnight stays required. Hours are extended throughout the year to include nights and weekends when necessary. Local travel to our various sites daily. Regular and timely attendance.
