Henry Ford Health System Therapist - Recreational / Contingent / Days - Allegiance Health - Jackson in Jackson, Michigan
The Recreational Therapist plans, directs and coordinates medically-approved therapeutic recreation groups. Activities may include sports, dramatics, social activities, art and crafts. By doing a leisure assessment the recreational therapist assesses the patient deficits and recommends appropriate therapeutic recreational activity for the patient. The Recreational Therapist assists in the coordination of care of adult and geriatric patients across disciplines, with other members of the health care team, to ensure achievement of desired outcomes, quality, and efficient utilization of resources for the patient.
Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation
Minimum Work Experience
Clinical experience in Behavioral Health as a Recreational Therapist is required.
Certification by the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation is required
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of application of recreational therapy theory and practice is required.
The ability to problem solve, use effective verbal and written communication skills, and be knowledgeable about the care of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
