Eaton Corporation Continuous Improvement Specialist in Jackson, Michigan

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist. This position will located at our Jackson, MI facility.

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is accountable for providing leadership and establishing the linkage of the Eaton Business System (EBS) and lean manufacturing processes to drive continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence throughout the Jackson, MI facility. The CI Specialist oversees site cost productivity and labor efficiency goals, project decks, kaizen events and continuous improvement plans. This includes providing training, coaching, and mentoring for improvement activities to support goals and objectives of the corporation.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

• Deliver cost productivity improvements by managing project deck focused on cost productivity, sourcing and VA/VE.

• Accountable for managing projects that will deliver savings, determined annually.

• Lead, facilitate and execute projects using Six Sigma and lean principles and processes to deliver results.

• Deploy Six Sigma and lean principles and processes across the site.

• Work directly with the Operations leadership to facilitate setting priorities, developing goals and designing objectives related to Six Sigma and lean.

• Tie Six Sigma projects and lean transformational plans to the site’s operating goals and objectives.

• Train and coach process owners in the use of lean and statistical tools, approaches and techniques to create process management and measurement systems and develop an operational excellence mindset at the department level.

• Support lean cultural change.

• Interface with manufacturing personnel to improve existing processes, increase safety and solve any ergonomic concerns.

• Provide technical support to shop floor in the areas of equipment, layout, tools, fixtures and machines to ensure low-cost and high-quality products.

• Implement the manufacture of new products or product lines with the emphasis on integrating the most efficient process and repeatable design.

• Develop proposals to incorporate new technology where appropriate.

• Prepare capital expenditure requests, frequent interaction with outside suppliers and agencies, including regulatory personnel.

• Complete other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of two (2) years experience in a manufacturing environment OR High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.

• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Jackson, MI will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of three (3) years experience leading Continuous Improvement efforts.

• Formal training/certification in Lean tools and/or Six Sigma.

Skills:

• Exposure to Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Interface.

• Thorough working knowledge with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, continuous improvement, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies.

• Effective technical writing and presentation skills.

• Superb verbal interpersonal and communication skills.

• Knowledge of manufacturing structures, varied processes, operating practices, and operating budgets.

• Experience managing several projects simultaneously.
