LifeWays Clinical Training Specialist in Jackson, Michigan

General Summary:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Clinical Training, LifeWays' Clinical Training Specialist plans, organizes, and coordinates onboarding of new clinical employees within the Integrated Health & Outpatient Services and Access & Crisis Departments in the Operations Division. This position also plans, develops, implements, and conducts ongoing trainings across clinical programs and other partners (law enforcement, first responders, provider network, etc.) to increase skill and knowledge level within the mission, vision, and values of LifeWays.

Essential Functions:

  1. Promotes an environment conducive to learning.
  2. Provides onboarding and ongoing in-person and virtual training to LifeWays and Provider Network employees including but not limited to evidence-based practices, clinical documentation, and other clinical concepts.
  3. Provides clinical consultation as needed to ensure appropriate delivery of services within LifeWays' provider network and internally.
  4. Develops and maintains the annual training calendar for all network and clinical staff. Provides trainings at a frequency that meets demand/need.
  5. Is an active member in all committees and workgroups as assigned..
  6. Organizes onboarding packets for new employees including training logs, onboarding schedules, competency checklists and other necessary documents.
  7. Conceptualizes and creates training and development solutions such as classroom learning material, e-learning modules, job aids, and other resources as needed.
  8. Prepares course feedback and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of courses. Periodically evaluates and reports on the outcomes of training sessions, overall effectiveness, success, and return on investment. Maintains records of trainee progress and achievements. Maintains a database of training materials as well as a reference library on training films, books, and other course materials.
  9. Tracks clinical trainings provided to staff.
  10. Develops and implements 90-day reviews for new clinical employees.
  11. Reviews documentation submitted by staff to ensure they comply with competency standards.
  12. Obtains and maintains various trainer statuses by completing necessary trainings and ensuring compliance with requirements to keep trainer status. Examples may include but are not limited to: LOCUS, CAFAS, PECFAS, and DLA-20.
  13. Provides ongoing monitoring of competencies through chart reviews, observation, and other means to identify training needs within LifeWays and its Provider Network.
  14. Provides feedback to supervisors on staff competencies and collaborates on the development of performance improvement plans as needed.
  15. Able to work at both Jackson and Hillsdale sites as required to ensure agency needs are met.
  16. Assists in preparing for internal and external audits.
  17. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Required Education/Certification/Licensure:

Clinical Trainer I: Bachelor's degree required in a human services field with limited licensure in the State of Michigan, if applicable. Limited Licensed Bachelors Social Worker (LLBSW).

Clinical Trainer II: Bachelor's degree required in a human services field with full licensure in the State of Michigan. Fully Licensed Bachelors Social Worker (LBSW).

Clinical Trainer III: Master's degree required. Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker (LLMSW), Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) or Registered Nurse (Associates in Nursing and RN licensure).

Clinical Trainer IV: Master's degree required. Fully Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Fully Licensed Psychologist (LP). Or BSN-RN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing + RN licensure)
