Part-Time Appointment (37.5% FTE) - August 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024

Position: Lecturer

Location: Cornell University, Ithaca, NY 14853-5701. The academic home for this position is the Department of Landscape Architecture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Position Description and Responsibilities:

Over its 115-year history, Cornell's Department of Landscape Architecture has achieved national recognition for its excellence in innovative teaching pedagogies that challenge students to become responsible, engaged and creative designers. Our department is adapting to meet the critical issues affecting the planet and its inhabitants through a continued emphasis on the agency of design. The Department of Landscape Architecture at Cornell University seeks applications for a part-time studio instructor position for a mid- to upper-level undergraduate studio to begin August 1, 2024. This position requires the candidate to have teaching and/or professional practice experience in high quality contemporary design and the ability to teach design studios grounded in the historical and theoretical foundations of the field. This studio will contribute to a curriculum that aims to prepare skilled and critical practitioners and researchers and expand the role of landscape architecture in addressing pressing anthropogenic and environmental issues.

Qualifications:

The studio instructor must have at least one professional design degree in landscape architecture, required Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA). Prior teaching experience is desirable but not required.

Anticipated Division of Time:

The lecturer will be responsible for one mid- to upper-level design studio. 100% of the lecturer's effort will be instruction. The lecturer will not have formal advisees assigned to them. However, students will expect to get informal advice on job searches and internship opportunities.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

• Prior relevant work or industry experience.

• Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

• Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
