The Audio-Visual Technician provides on-site, end-user support of audio visual (AV) technologies installed and deployed throughout the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS). Responsibilities Include: *Provide initial orientation to faculty, TAs, and guest speakers, as well as on-going training on how to operate classroom equipment *Serve as the first point of contact and primary responder to all teaching related emergency calls and support requests *Responsible for regularly scheduled maintenance of AV systems and replacement of consumables (batteries, lamps, etc.) *Regularly respond to questions and requests via email, phone, and in person *Provide after hours and weekend support for CAS events as required This position experiences yearly rhythms in accordance with the academic calendar. The weeks surrounding new semesters beginning, are busy with long days providing end-user support. Day-to-day throughout the academic semester includes continued support for classroom instruction, event support, minor maintenance, creating and updating troubleshooting guides and documentation, and planning for upcoming projects. Class breaks and the summer period are filled with larger system upgrades, planned repairs, and routine scheduled maintenance. AV department office hours are Mon-Fri, 8a to 4:30p but daily and weekly schedule requirements are flexible to accommodate AV support needs while maintaining a healthy work/life balance. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and at least 1-2 years' experience in a hands-on audio/video environment, or equivalent combination of education and formal training and/or experience. Demonstrated skills installing, operating, and troubleshooting AV systems, particularly digital video projection and AV control systems is essential. Experience with Zoom video teleconferencing and experience supporting Windows and MacOSX computers and basic networking. Must have the stamina to travel extensively between A&S buildings on a daily basis and in all weather conditions. Routinely move and/or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, and climb an eight (8) foot ladder. Occasional evening and weekend work is required, as well as additional hours during the start of the semester. The successful candidate will be familiar with and have a working knowledge of current classroom AV technologies including: Presentation software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi and ProPresenter Audio hardware including Shure Wireless, BiAmp Tesira DSP, and Audinate Dante Video hardware including Epson Projectors, Atlona HDBaseT & OmniStream, and Crestron NVX Control systems including Crestron and Extron The successful candidate will also demonstrate an aptitude for learning and keeping up with ever-changing technologies and applications. Audio Visual Technician must have: Exceptional skills in oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, problem solving, research, learning new technologies, project management, ability to work independently and as a member of a team, ability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals including faculty, staff, students and visitors, proven ability to work under stressful conditions and extreme time constraints while meeting critical deadlines, excellent documentation, organizational, and time-management skills. Must project professional image and demonstrate the ability to diplomatically handle a wide variety of situations and convey service information to others of varying levels of technical knowledge and responsibility. Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years in a hands-on audio/video environment Professional certifications in audio/visual technologies, such as Avixa CTS Additional specialized training related to audio/video distribution, audio/video conferencing, web conferencing, audio/video streaming, IP multicasting, and data communication systems desirable Experience with Crestron control system programming and/or SIMPL/C# programming environments Project management experience and/or experience supervising student workers a plus Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
