Berkshire Hathaway Automotive Systems Engineer in Irving, Texas

Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is seeking an experienced, proactive Systems Engineer to join the IT team. The Systems Engineer is  a lead technical role responsible for the architecture, design, maintenance and upkeep of enterprise windows, servers and related infrastructure.  Focus will be primarily on delivering cost effective, secure, and technologically sound systems required to provide outstanding service and uptime. This position will have a high level of focus on projects to drive business value while providing technical expertise and strategy toward Windows Servers, Databases, Desktops, Active Directory, Exchange, as well as software deployment, mobile device management, client patching/imaging and automation across a geographically disperse enterprise. Mentoring Systems Administrators will also be a significant responsibility of the Systems Engineer.  This position is full time and will be onsite at our Headquarters in Irving, Texas. BENEFITS: * Paid training and development * Career growth opportunities * Medical Coverage  * Dental Coverage  * Vision Coverage  * Paid Vacation and Holidays * 401(k) with company match RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead the technical research, evaluation and development of technologies and systems to enable continued efficient management of the entire BHA MS Windows server and workstation infrastructure. * Support and troubleshoot Microsoft technologies, including Office365, Hybrid Exchange, Azure, Entra, Intune, Sharepoint, MS-Teams, etc.  * Evaluate and manage Domain and O/U standardization efforts using industry standard tools and a methodical strategy that aligns with the needs of the business groups. * Establish and maintain Active Directory group policies to enforce business needs. * Drive strategy and maintenance regimen around all windows servers and desktop architecture in a multi-forest multi-domain enterprise environment. * Provide leadership in the support of a converged server, client and mobile management system providing asset management, automation, software deployment and patching. * Establish desktop standards and develop a client imaging framework that supports multiple diverse business application sets across the enterprise. * Provide technical leadership in server, database and desktop configuration, system preparation and software updates * Ensure all necessary security and patches are applied to the environment as required, minimizing negative impact to network utilization. * Demonstrate deep knowledge of Windows networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and associated components. * Understanding of networking devices used in conjunction with efficient and secure utilization of all servers and desktops. * Basic understanding of integration of VoIP systems into servers and desktops * Evaluate and make necessary adjustments and configuration changes to minimize network utilization. * Established knowledge of IP printing, basic routing and switching, LAN and WAN considerations. * Ensure recovery of systems is applied to the environment in support of disaster recovery efforts. * Lead efforts of systems implementations by conferring with peers and vendors, then developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements. * Keep knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. * Be well versed with PowerShell, or other scripting languages to author new routines when automation would be helpful. * Accomplish organization goals by embracing personal ownership for new and different requests, identifying operational inefficiencies or shortcomings and exploring technical opportunities which add IT and business value. * Proactive engagement in areas of responsibility to ensure the highest level of customer service possible. * Participate in Microsoft licensing, acquisition migrations, troubleshooting and maintenance. * Participates in rotating on-call duties and off hours work as required by the business. * Work closely with BHA Helpdesk, communicating standards and procedures as well as collecting feedback for continuous process improvements. * Ensure security is considered, implemented and reviewed with all systems supported. QUALIFICATIONS: * 5-7+ years of IT experience, related to infrastructure, client asset maintenance, software deployment, imaging and related technologies. * 5+ years of experience with multiple Microsoft technologies, including Office365, Hybrid Exchange, Azure, Entra, Intune, Sharepoint, MS-Teams, etc.  * Project management – Be organized, craft timelines and deliverables, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.   * Demonstrated experience in cloud migrations, physical to virtual conversions, on-prem to Office 365 conversions, and cross-tenant migrations.  * Proficient in MS Office and Visio. * Ability to set priorities and perform a variety of complex and broad work assignments. * Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. * Must be able to work flexible hours and participate in on-call duty to ensure business continuity.   * Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency. * Excellent written, oral and verbal communication skills. * Keep relevant documentation for all areas of responsibility. * Proficient with scripting (PowerShell) or other relevant automation and scripting technologies. *All potential employees must pass pre-employment testing including a background check and drug screen   WHO WE ARE: Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Berkshire Hathaway Automotive is one of the largest dealership groups in America, with over 100 franchises in 10 states. The company sets the industry standard for operational excellence, financial performance and an unmatched customer experience within franchised auto dealerships.
