Vistra Lead Risk Analyst-Nuclear in Irving, Texas

Job Summary

This role serves as a lead member of the Risk Group, focused on Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) activities, and is responsible for maintaining Vistra's models for nuclear fuel capital expenditure (capex) budgets and positions for uranium in all product forms. The primary responsibility is to project future nuclear fuel purchases and sales as inputs to a nuclear fuel cost amortization model for Vistra's four nuclear power stations. This position requires a thorough understanding of risk control principles and systems, involving the development of tools that necessitate critical risk calculation and analysis. The role is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

·Implement and Maintain the SURFN Model

o Oversee the SURFN model, which tracks completed, projected, and planned nuclear fuel trades.

o Simulate future fuel costs for Vistra's nuclear reactors.

o Review new and modified nuclear fuel trades submitted by the nuclear fuel team.

o Produce nuclear fuel position and cash flow reports for internal stakeholders and monthly planning activities.

·Develop and implement risk analysis and measurement methodologies.

·Perform financial analysis of historical data and forecasted information.

·Execute a variety of risk control tasks—daily, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc.

·Work with Commercial, Accounting, Planning, IT, and other groups to support strategic business objectives.

Education , Experience & Skill Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Information Management Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other analytical fields.

•3+ years of commercial experience in trading or risk management within the power generation, utility, or commodity sectors.

•Previous experience in the nuclear sector is preferred but not required.

•Proficient in programming languages such as SAS, VB, VBA, and C++.

•Excellent computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

Key Metrics

•Successfully implement and manage the SURFN model for Vistra’s nuclear fleet.

•Ensure timely and accurate rolling updates to the nuclear fuel expense model.

•Provide accurate and timely financial and risk reports to stakeholders.

•Achieve effective collaboration across business units to support strategic objectives.
