We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager to lead a dynamic team within Valve R&D organization. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of a testing team, ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Manage project activities with the accountability for successful completion of all deliverables to the business and develop project plans and schedule, scope and objectives. Identify risk, develop mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolve issues, action item follow up, etc. in collaboration with cross functional groups

  • Manage and/or oversee the work of assigned team within own function and/or cross functional project teams. Develop a robust talent development plan in alignment with functional growth strategies of the department

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support R&D projects, ensuring timely and accurate testing results.

  • Provide hands-on technical support and direction for lab testing, including troubleshooting complex engineering issues and optimizing testing methodologies to meet project requirements.

What you'll need (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 8+ years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree in engineering with 7+ years of professional experience.

  • 4+ years of experience managing technical or engineering disciplines within the medical device industry, including people management or technical leadership.

What else we look for (Preferred):

  • R&D experience within the medical device industry – highly preferred.

  • Experience with hemodynamic and durability valve testing.

  • Proven project management leadership skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and relationship management.

  • Expert understanding of engineering procedures and related disciplines.

  • Ability to manage teams, provide coaching and feedback, and handle all employee actions, including hiring and firing, in partnership with HR.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners, business units, and sites.

  • Ability to develop and integrate metrics that demonstrate the value of engineering to the business.

  • Professional interaction with all organizational levels and proactive issue escalation.

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environment.

  • Participation and presentation at meetings with internal and external representatives.

  • Ability to resolve operational and scheduling issues.

  • Develop peer, cross-functional, and cross-business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.

  • Develop relationships and leverage them to influence change.

  • Support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the organization.

California (CA) the base pay range for this position is $136,000 to $192,000 (highly experienced).
