We are seeking an exceptional and self-motivated Principal Algorithm Engineer to join our growing R&D team at Edwards Lifesciences located in Irvine, California.

How you will make an impact:

  • Applying machine learning and signal processing techniques to develop advanced algorithms for patient monitoring.

  • Performing statistical data analyses to characterize performance of algorithms

  • Performing research and feasibility of new concepts.

  • Collaborating with clinicians to conduct clinical trials and publish scientific articles.

  • Analyzing complex physiological and clinical data, animal model data, algorithm results data, and machine learning model performance data.

What you'll need (Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Scientific field with 6 years of experience, including either industry or industry/education -OR-

  • Master's Degree or equivalent in Engineering or Scientific field with 5 years of experience, including either industry or industry/education -OR-

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in in Engineering or Scientific field with 2 years of experience, including either industry or industry/education (strongly preferred)

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning and signal processing

  • Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB

What else we look for (Preferred):

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or Statistics is strongly preferred

  • Strong experience with deep reinforcement learning

  • Strong experience with general machine learning and deep learning techniques (CNN, LSTM, Transformer, etc.)

  • Strong experience in digital signal processing, mathematical modeling and algorithm development

  • Statistical data analysis experience

  • Highly motivated self-starter who is able to achieve results with minimal direction

  • Proactive and creative in achieving goals

  • Experience working with biomedical time series data (arterial blood pressure, ECG, EEG, etc.)

  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and human physiology

Depending on background and experience, candidate may be considered at lower or higher levels

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $126,000 to $178,000 (highly experienced).
