The Loss Mitigation Analyst position is responsible for reviewing all loans prior to foreclosure sale to ensure adherence to all state and CFPB guideline. Under the direction of the AVP, Loss Mitigation, this position will work on various aspects loss mitigation based on the varying needs throughout the year.


  • Manages and dispositions the Pre Foreclosure Review on eligible loans prior to Foreclosure Sale

  • Reviews for exemptions permitted by the CFPB as it relates to foreclosure sale and perform initial decision on Loss Mitigation exhaustion efforts prior to providing details to management for final sign off

  • Communicates and monitors the document handling process including the outsource vendor to make determination on current status of loans eligible for Loss Mitigation assistance as part of Pre Sale review

  • Performs and completes all pre-sale checklists required by Management

  • Performs Quality Control monitoring for various functions

  • Reviews and prepares Loss Mitigation Packages for processing

  • Images Documents

  • Requests BPOs/Appraisals as applicable

  • Requests payoff /reinstatement figures as applicable

  • Communicates detailed posting instructions to Cashiering Department as to how funds received should be applied to a loan

  • Develops a good working knowledge of the various departments within Servicing Administration in order to provide support to internal employees and external customers

  • Handles additional duties as they may be assigned within the scope of this department/job description

  • Processes Tasks in MSP

  • Orders Escrow Analysis, BPO, Credit Report and title as applicable

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management


  • Ability to cross train Support staff on various functions within the department

  • Ability to fulfill all functions performed by the support team

  • Encompass a good understanding of the loss mitigation departmental policies and procedures.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

  • Experience in risk-weighting business processes

  • Ability to work independently


  • High school diploma required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Minimum 4 years of mortgage banking experience including any combination of Loss Mitigation and Foreclosure experience


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
