Position Specifics & Requirements
- Full-Time (32+ hours/week) or Part-Time (<32 hours/week), on-site in Iron Mountain
- Active, State of Michigan Registered Dental Hygienist License; CPR certification
- Local Anesthetic/Nitrous Oxide License preferred
- Adhere to strict OSHA safety and HIPAA confidentiality guidelines
- Work both independently and collaboratively with team members
- Maintain dependable and punctual attendance in accordance with schedule
- Handle multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently and effectively
- Adhere to all healthcare industry and operations' best practices, adapting to new technologies and processes as developed
- Occasional travel may be required to participate in continued education seminars
Essential Position Responsibilities & Duties
- Relationship Builder: Interact with patients in a welcoming, soothing and professional manner; update and maintain patient records; offer items to increase patients' comfort through treatment experience.
- Radiography Technician: Obtain patient x-rays and review for potential areas of concern to be addressed by doctor.
- Oral Health Expert: Select materials, equipment for hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health; completes oral cancer screening and dental prophylaxis, cleaning deposits, stains from teeth and beneath gum margins, noting any areas of recession; apply fluoride varnish and other cavity-preventing agents; clean, polish removeable appliances; co-diagnose periodontal disease with doctor.
- Medical Emergency Back-Up: Support dentist in managing dental, medical emergencies through CPR certification, administration of emergency drugs and oxygen supply, emergency contact information.
- Sterilization Technician: Monitor treatment facilities for organization; clean treatment facilities post-procedure and prepare for next incoming patient; sharpen, sterilize instruments and equipment to standards.
- Communications: Respond to patient inquiries; provide education to patients with oral hygiene and plaque control instructions; follow-up with vendors for timely arrival of dental supplies ordered; assist Front Office with appropriate scheduling of patient treatment.
- Operations Assistant: Monitor, maintain and conserve supplies, inventory, equipment within treatment facilities; other responsibilities and duties as they are assigned.
