Position Summary :

The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the agreement of the Scope of Work is being completed in accordance with the design, schedule and supporting documentation including all permit requirements, health and safety plans, and quality control documents.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of the mission’s construction.

  • Responsible for the reporting of mission construction progress and overseeing construction subcontractor(s); attend meetings with FEMA, AHJ and subcontractors.

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations with FEMA and the Loghouse work.

  • Coordinate the transfer of housing units from the receiving yard to their final destination as dictated by the FEMA work order as sites are complete.

  • Responsible for providing day-to-day project oversight of commercial park expansion and group site construction.

  • Duties as assigned by Task Order Manager/Program Manager.

  • Complete all required training.

    Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of FEMA regulations, disaster recovery protocols, and construction best practices.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

    Work Location and Conditions:

  • State of Iowa

  • Lodging, laptop, rental car, and per diem will be provided.

  • Work is 7 days a week and 12-hour days.

  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.  

  • Travel estimated at 80%-85%.

    Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction management and operations preferably in FEMA or disaster recovery projects.

  • Proven experience managing construction projects, particularly in challenging environments.

    Location: Various; depending on the location of the disaster.
