Role Overview:

The Strategic Equity Officer is responsible for the development and implementation of programs and services focused on staff retention and access to resources. These programs have a wide impact on the agency’s image as a diverse and inclusive organization. The Strategic Equity Officer works independently and is expected to play a crucial role in the development of major objectives and programs.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $85,020.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Collaborates with relevant data, research, and evaluation partners to access critical data, synthesize information, and infuse feedback into strategic planning and initiatives;

• Reviews all strategic planning and initiates and ensures all efforts focus on staff retention and access to resources.

• Designs and facilitates all internal training related to leadership, staff wellness and inclusion. In addition, partners with content experts to enhance learning opportunities;

• Provides feedback and insight to ensure all policies, services, and products are framed through staff retention and wellness lens.

• Recruits, selects, onboards and trains employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development;

• Engages the agency in initiatives to improve belonging and agency culture for all staff members;

• Develops communication and feedback mechanisms to ensure there are opportunities to identify, discuss, and address areas related to equity and inclusion across the agency

• Collaborates with State of Indiana agencies to ensure effective internal and external initiatives implementation

• Sets expectations, measures progress, provides ongoing feedback and evaluates the performance of employees.

• Ensures work adheres to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either:

• a bachelor’s degree or

• at least 3 years of experience applying the below outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role

Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

• Thorough knowledge of the principles, laws, regulations, theories, and practices relating to equity, inclusion, and opportunity, as well as relevant state and federal employment regulations.

• Thorough knowledge of policies, standards, and requirements set by federal and state officials for compliance by state agencies.

• Thorough ability to design, facilitate, and assess training and programs related to equity, inclusion and opportunity.

• Thorough ability to lead the organization through strategic planning and initiatives toward equity, inclusion and opportunity results.

• Thorough ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative feedback to inform strategic planning and initiatives.

• Thorough ability to analyze information and work with large amounts of data.

• Thorough ability to infuse creative problem-solving alongside best practice standards.

• Thorough ability to lead with emotional intelligence.

• Thorough ability to convey messaging through verbal and written communication.

• Thorough ability to engage with all levels of the organization to infuse feedback into strategic planning initiatives.

• Advanced ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.

• Advanced ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, and develop employee skillsets.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
