Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Staff Accountant within the Wholesale Distribution industry in Indianapolis, Indiana. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in managing and processing our company's financial transactions and reports, maintaining customer rebate programs, assisting in human resources tasks, and handling our company's fixed assets.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately compile and process data for financial reports, ensuring all calculations such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, and principal are accounted for

• Utilize accounting and spreadsheet software to enter, access, or retrieve data, responding to inquiries related to specific accounts

• Prepare and submit sales tax reports, financial reports, and annual property tax returns and payments

• Regularly reconcile financial records, including company fixed assets, bank accounts, and credit card accounts

• Detect and report any discrepancies found in records or reports, taking appropriate action to resolve these discrepancies

• Update and track progress of customer rebate programs throughout the year

• Manage the petty cash, ensuring accurate balance at all times

• Assist in payroll processing, including calculations and entries such as commissions, special pays, and adjustments

• Support the Human Resources department with various programs and provide back up support as needed

• Maintain company vehicles, including tracking of mileage, ordering plates and registration for new and existing trucks, updating insurance information, and submitting any claims to the insurance company.

Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Knowledge of Accounting Functions

• Experience in Payroll processing

Requirements

• Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting role or similar

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Comprehensive knowledge of accounting functions and principles

• Experience with payroll processing and management

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

• Knowledge of wholesale distribution industry is a plus
