What You’ll Be Doing:

The Sr. Director – Clinical AI and Automation Transformation, will be responsible for AI and Automation strategy, planning, and implementation across clinical business domains. This role will partner closely with the transformation program Core Leadership team and other Tech Leaders to create a roadmap and measurable value targets, aiming to increase the capacity of the clinical organization through AI and automation.

The Sr. Director will lead a team of approximately 25 administrative and technical experts supporting the Clinical AI and Automation Transformation agenda.

How You’ll Succeed:

  • Accelerate the transformation agenda by partnering with LRL Clinical Business and R&D Tech management peers to supervise the portfolio of AI and automation transformation projects in clinical settings.

  • Plan and prioritize based on work activities, lead group priorities, and address issues that arise in the normal course of business.

  • Collaborate with LRL Clinical Business, R&D Tech, and other stakeholders to improve Lilly Clinical’s capacity through AI and automation products and capabilities.

  • Provide supervision to Tech associates, managers, and their teams effectively.

  • Reinforce compliance and ethics expectations, develop team objectives, handle performance, provide coaching and feedback, and create pathways for development.

  • Ensure appropriate reward and recognition, contribute to talent assessment, resolve HR issues, and support diversity in recruitment and development.

  • Oversee external partners to extend the team’s capacity.

  • Ensure effective knowledge management practices are implemented.

  • Maintain an external focus to learn from and shape the external environment, ensuring Lilly’s competitive advantage.

  • Develop persuasive cases and documentation to support and prioritize digital investments, ensuring on-time delivery.

  • Partner with various delivery organizations (e.g., Clinical Tech, Software Product Engineering, LCCI, Software Hub, Digital Core) to ensure high-quality product, platform, and solution delivery.

  • Work with Tech management and peer leaders to resource, provide solutions, and integrate completed automated AI solutions.

What You Should Bring:

  • Certifications and/or equivalent work experience in cloud, AI, and/or automation-related technologies.

  • 5 to 10 years of supervisory/leadership role experience.

  • Broad understanding of clinical processes and applications, and/or pharma industry knowledge and experience.

  • Validated leadership in business relationship management, facilitating deep integration and strategic development.

  • Shown ability to translate business requirements into appropriate systems and processes.

  • Demonstrable ability to influence peers and management to drive project and process outcomes.

  • Strong networking, interpersonal, and relationship skills

  • Superb communication skills with the ability to remain calm and composed during inspections and effectively conveying our compliance with the quality system.

  • A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest.

  • Capability to collaborate with diverse affiliates and regions.

  • Experience with leading a large CAPEX program.

  • Prior experience leading large-scale technology initiatives applying agile methodology to derive business value with speed.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, drug development, or another related field.

  • Prior leadership experience

  • At least 5 years of clinical knowledge and/or experiences.

  • Prior experience in the design and successful implementation of technology platforms, products, and solutions using agile, innovative thinking, and product management principles and practices.

Additional Information:

  • Position requires 25% Travel

  • Position located in Indianapolis, Indiana working in a hybrid model

  • Must work flexible work schedule at times to accommodate working with colleagues in other affiliates/regions.
