Asphalt Materials, Inc Project Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana

Job Summary:

This role will plan, direct, and coordinate activities concerned with capital, maintenance, or process improvement projects. The Project Manager will work closely with the project engineer, operations leadership, and applicable vendors to create comprehensive action plans concerning project resources, budgets, and timeframes. This role will perform various project management duties such as scheduling, risk management, and project closeout.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for your own personal safety and maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Coordinate and manage capital projects and major fixed and portable equipment improvements.
  • Partner with field leadership, focusing on plant equipment improvements with the goal of improving operating costs.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and define scope, budget, timeline, and execution of projects.
  • Oversee installation of large maintenance and capital projects, adhere to budget and schedule by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures, and maintain spreadsheets to communicate job status and cost details.
  • Communicate with the team any impacts to production or sales that project schedules may have.
  • Evaluate potential roadblocks to the project and develop solutions to mitigate them.
  • Complete project closeout process, including financial summary, asset additions sheets, and post project metric tracking.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment and ensure all safety regulations are met during the project. This includes preparing bid documents, conducting site meetings, and ensuring vendor compliance with MSHA and company safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors on the supply of resources for projects.

Education and Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mining, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management, or minimum 2 years in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge of aggregate mining operations, maintenance, and equipment (fixed and mobile) is preferred.
  • Excellent skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Aggflow preferred.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to partner and effectively work with appropriate levels within the organization.
  • Strong relationship skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects while maintaining positive. Relationships and operating in a high level of integrity.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
  • Independent, confident thinker with a high comfort level with ambiguity.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • A valid driver's license (or the ability to obtain one) and the ability to remain qualified for the company vehicle program.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to stand or walk on level or uneven ground continuously.
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairways, and incline catwalks.
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch, and/or kneel at the waist or knees.
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside and withstand extreme weather conditions. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather.
  • This position will cover operations from Cloverdale, Flat Rock, Columbus, to Springville. This individual would ideally live within this territory.
