Role Overview:

The Project Manager is responsible for the identification of schedule and cost variances and the facilitation of successful project completion. You will provide overall management direction to project team(s), establish project objectives and policies, work with prime client contractors, and various internal and facility staff, and monitor progress as well as financial activities. Those with previous project management experience in corrections, military, or construction are encouraged to apply.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact and is responsible for overall work progress and technical performance of assigned projects.

  • Responsible for monitoring progression of assigned project team and assigning individual responsibilities and notifying supervisors of failure to meet goals and objectives.

  • Creates project objectives and roles of each team member.

  • Creates project plans, with specifications and estimates for timeline, scope, compliance, and continued success metrics post-launch.

  • Leads key project meetings and works with team to ensure project scope compliance.

  • Prepares reports and analysis to manage risk and recommend necessary adjustments.

  • Presents project status to agency leadership and manages the project change process.

  • Manages the project team through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified requirements.

  • Oversees overall work progress and performance on project.

What You'll Need for Success:

The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either

  • At least 5-10 years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role, preferably in a correctional environment.

  • Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of project budgets with an understanding of all financial implications/issues.

  • Ability to minimize and manage changes to the scope of a project.

  • Ability to manage project uncertainty and apply resources to minimize, monitor, and/or control risks.

  • Ability to understand project objectives and outline the role of each team member.

  • Ability to effectively manage major conflicts that may arise.

  • Detail-oriented to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions.

  • Effective communication skills to all levels of agency stakeholders, from the project team to executive leadership.

  • Ability to engage project-specific public and agency stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills to track progress and ensure the project stays on task, on time, and on budget.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
