High-Voltage Substation & Transmission Project Manager - Indianapolis, IN

We are actively hiring a Project Manager to oversee the execution of High-Voltage Substation & Transmission projects in Central Indiana! We are working with a company that is building out their internal PMO to manage Capital Substation and Transmission Line Projects. These responsibilities are currently handled by the Engineering team, who take the work from Development to Engineer the projects and oversee them through completion. The goal is for the Engineers to maintain their engineering responsibilities, while we hire Project Managers to oversee the execution.

Projects Overview:

  • This team is responsible for both Substation and Transmission Line projects, with most voltage levels at 34.5kV, 138kV, or 345kV.

  • The current project load consists of larger New-Build's and long Line Build's, with some smaller Asset Replacement jobs, as well.

  • Scope for these projects typically consists of multi-million dollar budgets in the range of $2million to $50million.

  • Number of projects assigned to a Project Managers at any given time will depend on the size of each project.

  • Projects are mostly across the greater Indianapolis area, with the team onsite in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Execution of Substation and Transmission Line Projects

  • Lead Bid Events and Conduct Bid Review Meetings

  • Attend Engineering and Constructability Review Meetings

  • Partner closely with Construction Managers for Site Execution

  • Work with Supply Chain to Vet and Select Contractors

  • Monitor Project Risks and Assist in Schedule Development

  • Track Project Budget Forecasts and Accruals

  • Conduct Site Walk-Downs with Stakeholders

  • Utilize P6 and SAP for Project Tracking

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Substation and/or Transmission Line Capital Project Management Experience (non-negotiable)

  • Experience Communicating Effectively with Project Stakeholders and Internal/External Customers

  • Must be Detailed-Oriented, Highly Organized, Self-Starter, and Process-Improvement-Minded

  • Preferred but Not Required - Project Scheduling Experience with Primavera P6 / Microsoft Project

  • Preferred but Not Required - Experience with SAP (ERP Software)

Miscellaneous / Why Should I Apply?

  • This team sits in Indianapolis, IN, with people working in-office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Candidates must be willing and able to work either in-office or onsite (Central Indiana) a minimum of 3 days per week, preferably on the same schedule.

  • This is a long-term opportunity, as this team will continue to build out their PMO for High Voltage projects. They are looking for someone who is committed and reliable for the years to come, as they will be the first of multiple Project Managers added to this team.
