Lilly Plant/Project Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana

This position is an Engineering role within the Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance, and Engineering (FUME) group supporting the Bioprocess Research and Development Manufacturing Facility, which is focused on producing bulk drug substance (API) for clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive completion of assigned projects by leading multi-disciplinary teams to develop scope, agree to design, and efficiently execute implementation of project goals.

  • Provide financial justification/benefit, secure agreement to obtain required internal/external resources and identify/develop other possible alternatives or solutions to the proposed project and resolves issues through data driven decision making.

  • Accountability for financial performance of assigned projects including preparation of capital investment requests (CIRs), development of schedules and cost estimates, and maintenance and control of project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Ensure that Lilly requirements for design qualification, safety, change management, commissioning, qualification, and construction control are satisfied.

  • Provide an interface with and coordination for both Lilly and third-party partners including Architecture/Engineering firms, Central Indiana Alliance, and vendors.

  • Ownership of utility, waste and shared building equipment/systems

  • Manage associated operating procedures and training.

  • Perform and lead equipment troubleshooting.

  • Implement improvements to optimize the system performance.

  • Support and execute changes associated with new or modified equipment.

  • Develop user requirements and final design.

  • Create and execute commissioning and qualification documents.

  • Lead resolution of identified problems.

  • Provide oversight for utilities managed by the site utilities group.

  • Responsible for completing equipment investigations and implementation of associated corrective and preventative actions.

  • Assist in developing, reviewing, approving new and/or current preventive maintenance procedures.

  • Assist with the completion of the periodic quality evaluation of assigned critical equipment.

  • Ensure compliance to all applicable Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) and Quality requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field + 2 years of experience

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Previous experience in a project engineering or project management role including scope development, project estimation, schedule development and project implementation at local site level or corporate level.

  • Previous experience supporting a GMP area.

  • Knowledge of utility systems.

  • Previous experience with commissioning and qualification of equipment.

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with computer system validation practices.

Additional Information:

  • Monday through Friday 8-hour days with flexibility to provide occasional off hours support.

  • Travel: 0% - 10%
