Responsibilities

Ascension St. Vincent has a unique full-time opportunity for an Internal Medicine Physician with Public Safety Medical in Indianapolis, Indiana. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Public Safety Medical is the largest medical practice in the country dedicated to improving the health and safety of fire, emergency medical services and law enforcement personnel by providing specialized medical, fitness and psychological evaluations. Public Safety Medical is a part of the St. Vincent Health, Wellness and Preventive Care Institute, which offers customized and comprehensive on-site care in the workplace.

Position Highlights:

  • Oversee Advanced Practice Providers as well as perform comprehensive physicals for firefighters, law enforcement, and emergency responders; interpret lab results and diagnostic tests, risk assessment, health promotion, and disease prevention through education and counseling.

  • Perform medical assessments and provide opinions regarding the return to safety sensitive work.

  • Must be able to interpret or obtain the ability to interpret Treadmill Stress Tests

  • Non-primary care position; no acute care or script writing

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5 with no call

Qualifications:

  • Must have Indiana and Ohio state licenses

  • MD/DO

  • ACLS and BLS required

  • Demonstrable and effective counseling, writing, communication and computer skills

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
