Role Overview:

The Manager, Innovation Development is responsible for supporting innovation programming on the Entrepreneurship and Small Business team. This individual will support the ecosystem development, lead development, and innovation strategy development and execution, including support of state programs and/or federal funding capture opportunities.

Salary Statement:

The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $65,000 annually.

A Day in the Life:

Program Management

  • Supports overall planning, direction and results of innovation-led economic development initiatives, ensuring all plans are in alignment with broader IEDC goals and objectives

  • Support overall planning, direction, and results of securing federal funding opportunities and meeting federal program requirements – including federal reporting

  • Helps define and measure key performance indicators for both people and programs associated with entrepreneur focused innovation programs

  • Maintain CRM with up-to-date innovation data from programs and partners

  • Provide data insights to Small Business and Entrepreneurship leadership on innovation programs as necessary

Business Development

  • Joins team to represent the IEDC at conferences, industry trade shows, and other events related to entrepreneurship and innovation

  • Supports business development by helping execute strategies designed to attract innovative businesses to Indiana

  • Contact and connect with innovation leads to build pipeline of attraction opportunities

  • Performs other duties as requested

Partner Coordination

  • Develops and maintains close working relationships with statewide innovation organizations

  • Helps initiate, develop, and maintain close working relationships with private and public partners, including establishing new public-private partnerships focused on capital access for small, scalable businesses

  • Assist in the management of current innovation public-private partnerships and corresponding program reports, data management, and leads

What You'll Need for Success:

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or another related subject.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in entrepreneurship economic development, government administration, business development, small business, or innovation research and development activities

  • Experience managing complex projects, programs, contracts, or legislation

  • Experience in lead generation and development

  • Experience in working with senior leaders in government, business, community

Preferred:

  • Public speaking

  • Knowledge or interest in business formation, operations, and growth

  • Prior administration of or competency to administer multi-million-dollar contracts

  • Experience in both private and public or non-profit sectors

  • Experience in identifying business and economic development needs within a community
