System One HR Manager in Indianapolis, Indiana
JOB TITLE: Human Resources Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance & Administration
SUPERVISES: HR Generalist / Recruiting Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: Remote work, with strong preference to candidates located in Indianapolis, IN or Daytona Beach / Jacksonville, FL
TRAVEL: Periodic
SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced, organized Human Resources Manager with the ability to work independently to lead and manage our HR department. The HR Manager will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes, ensuring alignment with our company’s goals and values. This role is critical in fostering a positive work environment, driving employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the recruiting process from beginning to end, including W2 employees, 1099 contractors, and temp agency staff placement.
Coordinates with the IT and accounting departments for onboarding new hires.
Manages relationships with benefits vendors.
Manages all elevated employee relations issues.
Reviews action items for legal compliance, precedent, etc.
Manages legal compliance as it relates to HR, including EEO01, Vets 4212, 5500 Forms, FLSA, ADA, 401(k) non-discrimination testing, and affirmative action plans.
Tracks and processes all new hires and terminations, enters edits in various systems.
Manages annual open enrollment process from beginning to end.
Manages COBRA administration.
Manages elevated claims processing issues, enrollment exceptions, and special circumstances.
Manages 401(k) loan processing and distributions.
Processes short term and long term disability claims.
Oversees workers compensation filing of First Report of Injury.
Assists the accounting department with payroll with accurate data and processing personnel action forms.
Coordinates corporate training on sexual harassment, ethics, code of conduct, etc.
Develops recommendations for improvement of processes and implements such improvements within delegated authority.
Demonstrates excellent customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
Advises Director of Finance & Administration immediately of any issues or complaints regarding discrimination, legal issues, etc.
Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources with proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
