Field Performance & Product Safety Engineer

Pay Grade:

T4

Job Description:

Supporting the Functional Safety process owner by working with controls design teams for conventional and electrified systems to implement ISO 26262 Road Vehicle Functional Safety compliant designs. Develop requirements, perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to build comprehensive Safety Cases for systems and releases.

Position will support Field Performance Evaluation process to assess impact, severity, and proposals for potential Field Actions to support customers and comply with regulatory bodies globally.

  • Understand applicable Safety Standards such as ISO 26262 which may include training and gaining certifications.

  • Serve as a key employee resource for Product Safety performance matters including management of engineering teams executing the implementation in design

  • Conduct Audits and Assessment for Safety Related Design requirements for E/E Systems

  • Implements effective processes to achieve compliance to applicable Safety Standards

  • Interfacing with OEMs and key suppliers by developing Development Interface Agreements (DIA) to achieve the specific level on ISO 26262 compliance.

  • Analyze failure data to understand causation and behavior

  • Perform Failure Analysis and

  • Perform risk analysis on failure modes and problem scenarios

  • Construct and interpret statistical models for predictive analysis

  • Understand the regulatory environment and requirements in which products operate

  • Develop and present to executive management proposals to resolve field issues

  • Coordinate cross functional teams to investigate and solve field issues

  • Coordinate and implement effective corrective actions for filed issues

  • Analyze cost and develop optimized solutions that maximize customer satisfaction and company expenses

Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline

  • Experience with automotive transmission systems or similar powertrain systems

  • Experience with E/E control systems (Hardware and Software desired)

  • Experience or familiarity with product design and development

  • Understanding of ISO 26262 Functional Safety or similar standards

  • Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action Planning

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree

  • Certification in ISO 26262 Functional Safety

  • Allison Transmission or other transmission system specific product experience

  • Hands on experience with technical problem solving

  • Hands on experience with field performance evaluations
